There is a provision for a B.Tech. student to choose an M.Tech. Programme within the concerned discipline after completion of 3rd year (sliding mode).
The modalities are similar to a 5-year B.Tech.-M.Tech. dual degree programme.

Furthermore, IIT Bombay fosters an interdisciplinary academic milieu, encouraging collaboration among faculty and students through its innovative "Schools" concept. Presently, these encompass the School of Basic Sciences, the School of Earth, Ocean, and Climate Sciences, the School of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management, the School of Electrical Sciences, the School of Infrastructure, the School of Mechanical Sciences, and the School of Mineral, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering. 
Fee Structure (AY 2025-26)

B.Tech. / Dual Gegree

• Tuition Fee: ₹1,00,000 per semester

 • Hostel Charges: ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 per semester
 • Other Fees: ₹4,000 – ₹6,000 per semester
 • One-Time Admission Charges: ₹8,000 (at the time of joining)

M.Tech. / M.Sc. / Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D.

• Tuition Fee: ₹15,000 – ₹30,000 per semester

 • Hostel & Misc.: ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 per semester
 • One-Time Charges: ₹5,000 – ₹7,000

Ph.D.

• Tuition Fee: ₹5,000 – ₹10,000 per semester

 • Hostel & Misc. ₹10,000 per semester

*    100% Tuition Fee waiver for SC/ST/PwD students
·     Full remission of the Fee for most economically backward students (whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh per annum)
·     Remission of 2/3rd of the fee to other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakh per annum)
#    For Foreign Nationals Tuition Fee will be charged @Rs. 6.0 lakhs per annum for Non SAARC Country and @Rs. 2.0 lakhs per annum for SAARC Country.
